2022-2023 Van Driver Pre-Service Training

A person cannot transport students in a school district van or car without first obtaining a Van Driver Certificate from the Ohio Department of Education. The process can take a month or more. This four-hour course is mandated by Ohio law and must be completed prior to transporting children*.  Participants must take a two-hour refresher course each year after the initial training.

For the Pre-Service participant, the following documents should be in process or on file with your district transportation administrator.

___Annual Driving Record Check

___T-8 Driving Physical

___Application for Pre-Service Certificate from the State of Ohio

The Ohio Department of Education developed the Pre-Service Driver Training Course. The material for this web-based training course comes from the Ohio Driver Training In-service Training Manual.
